AIIMS Delhi

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will go door-to-door to treat patients. Along with treatment, other medical facilities will also be provided to the patients of serious illness who have reached the advanced stage, as well as studying these patients will also prepare a model for developing medical facilities in other districts of the country.

In fact, the Oncology Department of AIIMS has adopted Badhsa village near National Cancer Institute, Jhajjar. Here, under the project of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), door-to-door screening of every patient is being done. During the investigation, along with treatment, they are also being given other facilities including care.

In this regard, Dr. Sushma Bhatnagar, head of AIIMS Cancer Center and National Cancer Institute (Jhajjar), said that AIIMS has adopted Badsa village. Every person is being screened here. During the investigation, those who are showing any kind of symptoms, their treatment will be started. Apart from this, patients suffering from serious illness who have reached the advanced stage are being visited door-to-door to see their condition. Such patients require palliative care. AIIMS will identify them and go home and take proper care along with treatment.

Model will be ready for the country

Dr. Bhatnagar said that AIIMS is working as an institute. Here a model is being prepared after studying the facilities provided to the patients and its results, which will be handed over to the government. Work will be done to implement these models in other districts and village level of the country. Due to this, most of the patients will get treatment at the district level itself.

No need to refer every patient

Dr. Bhatnagar said that the main reason for the increase in the number of patients in AIIMS is the refer policy. It has been observed that most of the patients are sent to AIIMS, whereas they do not need to be referred. 60 to 70 percent patients of advanced stage do not need to come here. Cancer of most of these patients has spread a lot, which is not possible to treat. Such patients only need system management which can be found only at their district or village level. AIIMS is also preparing a model regarding this. Also will work towards implementing it at the district level.

Ayush’s support too

Dr. Bhatnagar said that AYUSH has also been included in the treatment of cancer patients. During its treatment, it is being seen that what is the benefit of giving AYUSH medicines along with the treatment to the patients.
